अहन् _ahan

अहन् n. [न जहाति न त्यजति सर्वथा परिवर्तनं, न हा-कनिन् Uṇ.1.55.] (Nom. अहः, अह्नी-अहनी, अहानि, अह्ना, अहोभ्याम् &c.; अहरिति हन्ति पाप्मानं जहाति च Śat. Br.)

-नी (du.) Day and night (At the end of comp. अहन् is changed to अहः, हम् or to अह्न; see P.V.4.88-91; VI.3.11, VIII.4.7. Note: At the beginning of comp. it assumes the forms अहस् or अहर्; e. g. सप्ताहः, एकाहः, पूर्वाह्णः, अपराह्णः पुण्याहं, सुदिनाहं, अहःपतिः or अहर्पतिः &c. &c.).

1 a series of sacrificial days.

-3 any calculated term (Wilson).

-जरः [अहोभिः परिवर्तमानो लोकान् जरयति जृ-णिच् अच्, अहानि वा अस्मिन् जीर्यन्ति आधारे अप्-वा Tv.] Ved. the year as making days old.

-जात a. Ved. born in the day or from day, not belonging to night.

-दिव a. (˚हर्दि˚) existing every day. (

-वम्) ind. [अहश्च दिवा च समा ˚द्व˚] daily, every day, day by day; य इत्थमस्वास्थ्यमहर्दिवं दिवः Śi.1.51.

-दिवि ind. day by day, every day, constantly; यथा श्येनात् पतत्रिणः संविजन्ते अहर्दिवि सिंहस्य स्तनयोर्यथा Av.5.21.6.

-दृश् a. Ved. belonging to the day, living; इन्द्रो विश्वान् बेकनाटाँ अहर्दृशः Rv.8.66.1.

-नाथः 1 the sun, the lord of the day.

-2 a kind of tree.

-निशम् [अहश्च निशा च समा˚ द्व˚] a day and night, a whole day; तस्य सोहर्निशस्यान्ते प्रसुप्तः प्रतिबुद्धयते Ms.1.74,4.97. (

-शम्) ind. day and night, during the whole day, continually.

-पतिः [अहःपतिः, अहर्पतिः, अहस्पतिः P.VIII.2.7 Mbh. Vārt.]
